About the Event

Certified as a secondary PE and English teacher, she spent 3 years teaching before she married and started a family. The arrival of her first child started her 15-year maternity leave to raise her children, eventually four children in all. 


While raising the children, she took on several odd jobs to help ends meet. She started a successful advertising business and sold it. It required sales, development, and distribution of a binder to put on any phonebook (pre-internet and cell phones). She also dabbled in real estate investing, which entailed purchasing homes for zero down, renovating them, and reselling them for some profit. That led to her owning and managing a rental property. As the kids became involved in school activities, she settled in on doing things that matched their schedules, like substitute teaching and driving the activity bus.
