My Story

When I first came to Snow College, I didn’t know exactly what entrepreneurship meant in practice. I only knew that I wanted to challenge myself, step out of my comfort zone, and explore how small ideas could make a real difference. As an international student, the GRIT Center quickly felt like a home, a place where people are genuinely kind, welcoming, and willing to guide you. That curiosity led me to participate in many Bootstrap competitions, where I learned that entrepreneurship doesn’t begin with having all the answers; it begins with asking the right questions.

My journey began with exploring practical ways to make a difference, from promoting healthy snacks like granola bars to encouraging sustainable habits, such as using reusable shopping bags. Along the way, I met many people and created valuable connections through interviews and conversations. Things didn’t always go as I planned, and not everyone responded the way I expected, but these interactions taught me an important lesson: entrepreneurship is as much about building relationships and understanding people as it is about ideas. These conversations also helped me refine my ideas and see opportunities I hadn’t considered.

Through Bootstrap and my time at the GRIT Center, I gained more than project insights; I gained confidence, public speaking skills, and the ability to address an audience. Skills that also helped me compete successfully in national competitions like DECA and FBLA. I learned how to listen with empathy, turn simple observations into opportunities, and approach problems with creativity. These experiences shaped the way I think not only about entrepreneurship but also about leadership and community.

Now, I have the privilege of working at the GRIT Center. I’m grateful for the chance to serve other students, just as others supported me not long ago. Every day, I’m reminded that entrepreneurship is about more than building businesses, it’s about building connections, sparking curiosity, and empowering others to take their own first step.

My advice to future student entrepreneurs is this: don’t wait for the “perfect idea.” Start with what excites you, listen to people, and let their stories guide you. You’ll be surprised how much you can learn, and how far those first questions can take you.
